Protect your Pets this Winter

During the summer we protect our pets from the hot weather and take precautions to keep them safe. In the winter, it is just as important to keep pets warm and dry during this cold and snowy season. Follow these quick tips from the Humane Society to protect your pets this winter.

*Keep pets indoors and out of the cold.

*Give pets plenty of water.

*Use pet safe salt for de-icing sidewalks and driveways.

*Antifreeze is poisonous so keep it stored safely away from pets.

Advertiser Ad

Unfortunately, mistakes happen, and if you happened to see our recent ad in the The Advertiser, there was a misprint. The ad should not have said to leave your pets in the car with the windows cracked. Animal Protection Association urges pet owners to not leave your pets in a car on warm days, even with the windows open. Even on an 80 degree day, the temperature in the inside of a car can reach up and over 100 degrees. We apologize for any confusion this misprint has caused and if you have any questions, please contact us at (847) 740-3977 or email us at contactus@animalprotectionassociation.org.

For tips on how to keep your dogs safe and cool in hot weather, visit the Humane Society's website here.
